About the role

We are currently expanding our Consultant Roster and seeking talented Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, and Learning (MERL) professionals to support upcoming projects and consulting assignments globally. Consultants selected for our roster will be considered for both short-term and long-term contracts based on project requirements and expertise.

Key Responsibilities

As a MERL Consultant at NEXSOZ, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our projects by taking on one or more of the following key tasks:

  • Evaluations: Design, manage, and conduct comprehensive evaluations, including baseline and endline surveys, as well as mixed-method research studies. Assess program effectiveness, identify key learnings, and provide actionable insights to inform strategic decision-making.

  • M&E Systems Development: Develop and implement robust Monitoring & Evaluation frameworks, logic models, and data collection protocols tailored to donor requirements.

  • Data Collection & Analysis: Lead data collection efforts, ensure the accuracy and integrity of the data, and utilize Python, SQL, and other tools to clean, analyze, and manage large datasets.

  • Data Visualization & Reporting: Create compelling, user-friendly visualizations and reports using Power BI and other tools. Provide data-driven insights to stakeholders, facilitating informed decision-making.

  • Dashboard Development: Design and develop interactive dashboards for real-time monitoring and reporting, empowering clients with actionable, on-demand insights.

  • Capacity Building & Training: Provide hands-on training and technical support to project teams and local partners on M&E methodologies, data collection, and data analysis best practices.

  • Field Work & Remote Assessments: Participate in field missions and conduct remote data collection as needed to gather primary data, monitor ongoing programs, and assess field-level implementation.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with clients, ensuring timely and high-quality deliverables

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in international development, public policy, sociology, political science, statistics, or a related field preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in designing, managing, or advising on M&E systems for government, UN, NGOs, international development or humanitarian contexts.

  • Experience in evaluation design, performance monitoring, survey research, and using data analysis tools like Python, SQL, and Power BI.

  • Experience with dashboard development and the ability to create interactive, user-friendly reporting tools that help stakeholders visualize and interpret complex data.

  • Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.

  • Strong hands-on experience with data collection, data cleaning, and data visualization.

  • Advanced skills in Python, SQL, and Power BI for data manipulation, analysis, and dashboard creation.

  • Experience in utilizing data analytics to uncover insights, trends, and actionable recommendations.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data in an easily understandable manner.

  • Languages: Proficiency in English is required; additional language skills are an asset.
